• With the installation of a texting app, you should be able to text, as this is not a cell phone.

• If you are talking general SMS Texting like on your smartphone, then no. There are Texting programs though that you can download from Google Play Store that I'm told that allow you to text. Since this is just a Wi-Fi enabled device and not a divide that you can add mobile service to that is why you are unable to do general Texting like on smartphones.
