“grandchild has no home computer. is this still a good gift for a child to have and are there charges for using it?”

• This would be a reasonable tablet to access the internet, access email and chat applications, as well as video chat applications. However, to access the internet, your grand child will have to have access to wifi to use it for online things. So if there's no home computer, I doubt there is home wifi to use. However, Wifi can be used at libraries and such.
