• No, it's not shock proof. But it will keep the screen from scratches, etc. from regular use.

• I don't think anything is truly shock proof. This case doesn't have any rubber, or glass cover on it. It is however a bit bigger than my kindle when it is attached, so if it falls on the edge it will not hit the kindle directly, but if it falls face first, there is nothing to protect it unless the cover is closed. For the price there is just no beating it.
