“I bought the Sony UBX-700 4KHDR UltraHD BluRay player. I've seen that some of these won't work with the 4K or UHD. Until I'm ready to replace the rest of my system, will this work for running my new player into my old tv by way of my receiver?”

I honestly don't know... my instinct is to say it should. I'm answering because you have an old tv that works well. I just wanted to ask you if the converter isn't a good investment for that reason alone? If it works for the Blu ray it was a cheap fix. If it doesn't, it will work for a VCR older DVD or Blu Ray, etc. Only you know if it's worth it for that alone. It may seem like a bit "too much" but if it diesn't work directly you could still run the blu ray to your computer and use the converter from computer to tv, so it's a stopgap, at any rate.
