“My old monitor only supports VGA. My CPU only supports DVI and HDMI. Is this what I need?? Also my monitor's highest res is 1280x1024, 75 Hertz. Will it reduce my display resolution? Thanks.”

It is what you need. It should not reduce your display resolution

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a 22" AOC flat screen with VGA and DVI outputs. I am using the VGA output as the monitor only came with a VGA cable. I use this HDMI-to-VGA adapter to connect that monitor to my 15" HP ENVI convertible laptop so that I can have dual screens.The adapter goes between the VGA monitor cable and the PC. It works great and I have not experienced any degradation in display quality.
