• The clear plastic on the top is for protection during shipment. You are suppose to remove it.

• There's a round clear plastic covering (in packaging) that protects the top part (glass) during transport. You remove & throw away.

• That plastic cover should be removed. It does not remain on the flashlight when in use.

• The outside clear plastic cover over the lens is for storage and shipping, remove this cover to use or discard with original packing, If you do decide to keep it, It will keep dust off of the lens while in storage. I always store flashlights lens down and standing up, So you don't need it.
