Main drive not sure, but it is not TB4. It is 2x faster than Thunderbolt 3 which is 5Gb/s. Thunderbolt 3 is USB 3 speeds. 3.1 is this device, which is 10Gb/s.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This enclosure does not support Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4, it is USB-based (USB-C as USB 3.2 Gen 2). As a result, performance will be limited compared to Thunderbolt and will bottleneck a WD Black NVMe drive. While it may work as external storage, it is not recommended as a primary or boot drive for a Mac mini. For best performance and reliability, use the Mac mini’s internal SSD instead.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Insignia™ M.2 NVMe to USB-C SSD Enclosure is compatible with macOS, so you can use it with your Mac mini and a WD Black SSD. However, it's important to note that this enclosure supports USB 3.2 Gen 2, which provides transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps. It does not support Thunderbolt 3 or 4, which offer higher transfer speeds. Using this enclosure, you can certainly use the WD Black SSD as an external drive for your Mac mini, but it won't achieve the same speeds as a Thunderbolt 3 or 4 connection. If you need the highest possible transfer speeds, you might want to consider an enclosure specifically designed for Thunderbolt 3 or 4.
