“Does this allow input into the computer from an HDMI device? I'm trying to set my camera up so it can record and display on my mac's screen simultaneously. My Mac isn't recognizing the camera when plugged in. Thanks!”

This Product is for HDMI Out. For HDMI In to record and display on your mac you will need a Game Capture Device. Elgato Game Capture Devices are very popular and support MAC OSX. It uses USB port to connect capture device. Make sure you buy the one with OSX Support.

Please try again later.Unfortunately, you can't input from HDMI into the mac via a display adapter - however there are some great products that allow this (albeit more expensive than a display adapter). If you need this functionality - I recommend the "Intensity" device from Blackmagic Design which is offered in Thunderbolt as well as USB 3
