How do you find out which way to point your antenna? null

Check the over the air website to see which location your station are at. I used the following https://nocable.org/. You type your address and it tells you where they are.

I installed the antenna then scanned my tv for channels, then rotated antenna 45 degrees and scanned again, I kept a log of how many channels and strength every time i moved my antenna 45 degrees, my tv gives me information of how strong the channels is when using an antenna, good chance yours does also.
