This ice maker is not a freezer so if you want the ice to last longer you will need to put it in the freezer for a couple of hrs so it can dry and solidify completely. I play sports and the ice has lasted in my cooler for around 5 hrs in 90° sun keeping everything cold so its perfect for me...

It will last for several hours in a cooler if transferred directly from the ice maker. I stockpile mine in a mini ice chest so I can have it readily available for my all day long ice addiction. I also stockpile gallon bags in the freezer and will use those in the cooler if I’m going to be gone all day and need it to last longer, since they will be more frozen solid.
