Yes. There is a sensor to stop the ice maker from making more ice once the bin is full. It is possible to rearrange some of the cubes that went in last to make room for another batch.

Yes it does have a sensor that once the basket is full it will stop making ice. If you happen to forget about it the ice will melt back into the water tank but continue to stay paused.
