My experience is that it doesn’t detect human skin so it does turn off. Same when you have hair in the way and it can’t read your forehead and it turns off

It's also difficult to use this with the silicone cover included in the Oculus headset, so unless you're using a third-party facial interface, I suggest only using this cover for overnight and/or long-term storage, in which case the headset should be powered off and unplugged.
