• Yes it will fit 12 gauge wire. The wire is secured by 2 screws, no need for soldering.

• It supports 14 gauge nicely, 12 may be a snug fit. If you slide the colored insulation off you will see 2 small screws. Back these out and insert the twisted wire. Then tighten the screws snugly. Just make sure the rearmost screw is contacting the wire and not the insulation. Easy!
