QuestionCan you screw the base into wood ?

- Answer No. The base is plastic. You could use double side tape or command strips so it doesn't ruin the wood/varnish. But with the weight of the TV on the stand it shouldn't move. Unless you have little ones or dogs actively trying to go after TV.
