“I have an iPhone 12pro in a waterproof Fre Lifeproof case with dimensions of 6.3 x 3.40 x 0.54. I’m thinking it may loosen enough to work?”

Yes it will fit up to 6.8 in

It should fit those dimensions. The only stretchy parts are for the length, but it should fit.
