“I have a windows 10 laptop that doesn't have a CD driver. If I buy this, will the software download automatically or not?”

• The CD contains the drivers for the adapter, but on Windows 10, all the necessary drivers are built-in already. All you need to do is plug into a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port and connect the Ethernet cable, then Windows will automatically switch to a wired internet connection. You don’t need the CD for anything on Windows 10.

• Unsure for Windows as mine was on a Mac. I had to go download the software after doing a search on the item. In your case, search Insignia USB-Ethernet Windows 10 drivers and you should be ok. You may have an issue with it being incomplete drivers - they were on the Mac, but then I searched for the ID code of the USB device and Mac drivers and found it, installed that and all was good.
