• It doesn't have a mute switch, but it does have an input level dial that may effectively mute it when turned all the way down. It also has an on/off switch directly below that dial, so you can always turn it off to mute it. As to the indicator light, no, there isn't one.

• the photo shows an OFF / ON switch and volume control dial built on the base, but un-sure about light but doubt it

• Yes to both, there is a small switch on the base of Microphone to mute/unmute. There is an indicator light located along the cord closest to the USB plug that you insert into pc or laptop. The light just let's you know if the mic is on and working not if your mute or unmute.

• No. There is no mute on the Insignia Microphone. It's either on or off. There is an indicator light on the cord. It comes on when you turn the computer on and goes out when you turn the computer off.
