QuestionWhat external microphones work with Microsoft 10?

- Answer I'm using Windows 10 with this mic, and it's been great. After I upgraded to Windows 10, my soundcard wasn't working very well (it needs a Win 10 update, but the company that makes it hasn't bothered yet). So I bought this mic for dictation, and it works flawlessly. Hope that answers your question.

QuestionHow long is the cord/cable?I am sure that I can get an extension USB if needed but doesn't show cord/cable length in specs or description. Thanks for your reply!

- Answer The cord is six feet long from the microphone to the transformer on the cord, then another foot to the USB connector.

- Answer The setup utility for Cortana says this type of mic is not ideal. I set mine up anyways, which took a couple tries because it couldn't understand me, but once I got through it successfully it has been working flawlessly for me, and understands me quite accurately

- Answer Yes, it's easy just use a port in the front of the computer, the newer one's all have them in front and in back. The cord is long enough for either. My computer is from Best Buy, my new flat screen and the sound bar, I'm a senior also. They all work great.

- Answer The short answer is yes, but it leaves out two limiting factor: software and DVD drive capability. Typically, a microphone can record sound and save it to a file, commonly .wav or .mp3 sound files. The file then can then be copied onto any writeable DVD in a DVD drive that is capable of writing onto DVDs. I personally used this device to record sound in Garageband (Mac software) and did record that to a DVD, which I could then play in my DVD player.

- Answer Yes it has worked well - just plugged it into my USB. There is an on/off switch so household sounds didn't make their way into our meeting.

QuestionDoes the Insignia Microphone have a way to mute. Also, does it have an indicator light.

- Answer It doesn't have a mute switch, but it does have an input level dial that may effectively mute it when turned all the way down. It also has an on/off switch directly below that dial, so you can always turn it off to mute it. As to the indicator light, no, there isn't one.

- Answer I don’t know about the Nintendo question but this is a microphone only, you still use the speakers on your computer for audio. This is not a substitute fir a gaming headset that has both built in.

QuestionI bought the Insignia Microphone from Best buy.The microphone works fine. But can anyone tell me why the blue light on my mic stays on or blinks? I thought that if I was not using the mic and I turned it off that the light would go off. Thank you.

- Answer When the mic is idle, the blue light stays on; when the mic is recording, the blue light blinks. This is normal behavior.
