“Are the magnets which hold the speakers together for storage dangerous around my laptop hard drive, or any storage devices? This includes flash drives, USB cards, and old Zip Drive discs? How far away would I need to keep the speakers?”

Should not be a problem as the magnets are very weak...they barely hold the two speakers together.
