This adapter will not work for that purpose. You will need a lightning port to HDMI to do that. I’m not sure if insignia makes that but Apple does. You may also need to purchase an additional cable to allow for charging as well. The adapter will plug into the phone and then you will have an HDMI And lightning port outputs to go to a charger and the TV respectively. This adapter is about $50 at your local Apple store or Best Buy
