Its a little awkward, but yes you can.
You can't really reach the shoulder buttons without taking it out though.

NO!!! You have to take the console out of the case to play with it. This is not just a case cover. It's a hard case for good protection!!! I think you could drop it and it wouldn't damage the console. But, I wouldn't try it.

Yes you can play it, just not charge it... I would feel safer if it never had to be removed from the case...

No, you must remove the system from the case. This is a storage system, not a full-time case.
