• While you could connect a keyboard to your Xbox for typing messages, an adapter is needed to actually play with keyboard and mouse

• Yes, you could use the extra USB to hook up a keyboard and mouse. I know keyboards work with the xbox, but not sure about a mouse. I never tried using a mouse with it.
