Set it up with the google home app. Don't click on your wifi ssid! Choose other wifi, type the id, choose wpa2, type the password. Basically, the only way it saves the password, is, you type it in.

But the insignia speaker becomes a brick until you unplug it and plug it back in. I deal with this too... Sometimes every day, sometimes once every two weeks, or sometimes it's like tonight... And it's gone blank ten times in the last two hours. You can try unplugging your router for fifteen seconds and plugging it back in also. My ISP gave me a horrible ARRIS router which is definitely plagued with problems. Unplugging the router sometimes helps for a little while longer.
