“How are people using this speaker while the power is plugged in? As soon as I plug in the power it stops playing music. I am using via Bluetooth. What am I doing wrong? Or is it defective?”

When it is charging does your light turn purple? When mine is charging and nothing is connected the light is red, but if I'm playing something the light is purple. Maybe test with an AUX cable as well to see if you can at least get sound that way.
