I had the same experience gave a similar review that you did. I bought them to eliminate noise from the other room when I'm trying to watch something. The cheaper pair have great sound! Crisp and clear, just no noise cancelling. If you don't need the NC, the I'd Recommend returning them and getting the other pair.
