• Yes you do, it sounds clear. Obviously you cant compare to noise canceling headphones, but the Insignias hold their own.

• The earphones aren’t noise canceling but they do a great job blocking out external noise on planes. I was just on a flight and used them to watch movies... couldn’t hear hardly any external noise.
