“Can the front screen, including the blue light, be turned off, even during recording or while taking still shots?”

• Yes, there is a setting for front screen to display or turn off. Also the Light Indicator can be turned on/off [flash red= recording and flash blue = standby], but for both sides (front and back). You probably know about it before I commented 1 month later after your question gets answered by me.
