Hi Cameron, I know it's been a year since your post, but yes is your answer. Any stand-alone Intel motherboard with a Z- prefix has the capability to manually overclock the processor, excluding vendor (Dell, HP, etc.) models that WILL limit or prevent it. With that said, you'll need a "K" suffix processor in your "Z" prefix motherboard to exceed the processor speed limit. (e.g. i7-10700K)<-------- The K processors are intentionally unlocked by the manufacturer before you buy it, and definitely carry a heavier price tag, coining the term "pay to play". The Alienware uses the "Extreme" model processor as opposed to the "K" model, and have an overclock option in BIOS, but it's rather limited. Now I think about it, I don't believe Dell or HP (or any other vendor) even offers a PC with the K processor, and I can see why. We're pretty much on our own when it comes to letting loose the juice on a PC, so be careful when you're unsure of what may happen, and always, always, have a backup. Happy clockin', Billy
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it is an overclocking motherboard. But because it is a 400 series board check on the manufacturers website to see if it is compatible with 11th gen cpus since not all 400 series boards are.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. What mother board exactly? As I have learned recently, some manufacturers lock some capabilities on their motherboards to prevent damage.
