This is hard to answer. You can get the same amount of RAM just from two sticks so its not a big deal however for aesthetics I can understand.

Intel® processors come in four types: Single Channel, Dual Channel, Triple Channel, and Flex Mode. Maximum supported memory speed may be lower when populating multiple DIMMs per channel on products that support multiple memory channels.

Make sure that the memory sticks meet the memory specifications supported by the processor; for ideal performance, every memory stick must have the same speed, capacity, and timings. Avoid mixing and matching different module specifications if possible.
