“how does the "rocker switch" work? is a toggle switch? does it reverse itself when one selects the next computer? I can never figure out which way its switching or even if it is or where it thinks it is ?????”

You just push the button on the switch. There is a light on each side of the module where the cables connect that indicates which computer is using the peripherals. The switch just toggles back and forth between the computers.
