I would appear the the ION speakers are designed to work as a pair if you have 2 of them. When they pair they become left and right channel which gives the indication they would not pair with any other speaker that is not identical even from same manufacturer. I have 2 of them and when paired bluetooth only connects to left channel speaker when paired. You would have to contact them to be absoutely sure. If you search most of their other speakers, most are pretty large or come in sets. Hope this helps a little.
