“What is the duration of time that the speakers remain outdoors with out harming them? Can they be placed in a garden bed directly on soil or mulch? So far they sound great but want to keep them out of harms way. Please advise.....”

I've had mine for a year (6 of them) and one stopped working due to the battery. I swapped the batter from a working one and it worked. You can order new batteries for about $20. The other 5 have worked flawlessly and have great sound. They have been sitting in soil the whole time in the weather and still look great.
