• It can rotate by 90 degrees and there is a bit of wiggle room to move it down a little, but even in that position, part of still stays in front of the vent. My phone doesn't get overheated, even when I drive in the winter and have my vent on high. But it does get some heat from that, yes.

• I have a vent above my CD holder and I still get a breeze. The ends up 6 inches or so in front of the vent.
