• I too was confused with that. Look at the packaging or find a YouTube video. That little piece will make it more stable.

• If the mount is moving around in the CD Slot, we'd recommend using the square bracket. When the lever is open, you would insert that piece and close the locking lever onto it. That will widen the CD Slot connector and should help to get rid of any vibration or movement.
