Just side to side not up and down. It’s extremely smooth moving. Not jerky or wobbly like a lot of other fan get after a while. I think that’s due to the base of it. That’s where it moves from. If that makes sense. My biggest delay in the purchase of it was because I had never heard of the brand before, wasn’t sure of its moving capabilities or how strong the wind force was. The split seam at the bottom is where it moves from side to side. It’s a great fan!
