Fortunately, all Roombas will manage rugs as well as fur. I do recommend starting your search at the Roomba e5 level, since that's where the cleaning brushes move to 2 rubber multi-surface versus 1 rubber & 1 bristle. It's a bit better for human and pet hair. Your other considerations are how much suction you think you'll want, how much area you want to clean on one mission, what technology advancements you want (recharge & resume, directed room cleaning, teaming) and finally if you want the ultimate with automatic dirt disposal.
