• There are several differences, so I'd encourage you to check out the comparison chart on either bestbuy.com or irobot.com. The Roomba 980 is an obsolete robot, but its technology is similar to the Roomba 960 if you want to use that as a reference. Some key upgrades with the 900-series are visual navigation (uses a camera to navigate, and cleans in parallel rows), the ability to recharge and resume cleaning if needed during a mission and greater suction power.

• Not much other than cost. I do believe you get a blocking sensor or whatever they call it with the 980 but you can buy those individually if needed.
