• Yes, you can/should purchase some virtual walls ($50 each). Also you will need the maintenance kit after some time

• Initially I only purchased the vacuum. You only need to remove the insert tag, plug in the charging unit, charge the battery for about 3 hours and then it is ready to go. You can run it manually right away or you can set up the iRobot app on your smartphone. We decided to purchase a replacement kit, which comes with filters and rollers.
