No. You don’t NEED WiFi. It has buttons on top that manually start cleaning, but WiFi is helpful to connect the app to the Roomba. It schedules cleanings and gives you a health report on your device. Or alerts you if it’s stuck.

You do not - for all Roombas, you can simply press "Clean" on the robot. It will return to its home base automatically when it finishes a mission or needs to recharge.
