No issues with Roomba 980 going over vents in floors. It will even go to the edges of my table base in the kitchen and lift itself up around the edges and no damage. The rotating side bristles make contact with the floor and pull in dirt/dog hair to get suctioned. It is amazing how much dirt and hair this thing continues to find.
