I really don’t know the difference but I own The 980 and it is fantastic. I have it vacuum every other day. I have two dogs and a cat. It completely clean everything , no hair at all no dust no dirt just clean. I love this product I recommend it to everybody .

Most of my house is tile flooring, but I have two bedrooms with carpet as well as rugs throughout it does fine. Although on thin or light rugs you may want to find a way to anchor them to the floor so to speak or just pick them up.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.We went with the 980 and do not regret the decision in the least. The extra features (longer battery life, stronger and newer motor design, multiroom) are well worth the price of admission. We have a dog that sheds like crazy, and the Roomba has kept our carpet, hardwood, and travertine tile floor really clean. We've owned it for about a month and we haven't had to use our traditional vacuum cleaner since. I realize the Roomba is meant to "augment" your vacuum, but it really is so good we probably won't have to do more than 1 manual vacuum session a month.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The one thing I would say you should know in advance if you don't already; the app control only lets you start it and stop it. You can also set a schedule for it to automatically start at a certain time each day. What you cannot do is actually control it while it's running like sending it to a different place. I have one that has to recharge twice before it will finish so I was hoping to be able to have it do one room each day or at least finish one room fully before it goes on about its business but it will not.
