• Yes, you control the unit with the app. Great app. It lets you control everything. Not sure how much suction, but its enough because it's not too loud. If the suction was greater it would be real loud.

• This Roomba has excellent suction on it. It is very quiet too! It’s good to have the app, but the iRobot app is free!

• Yes you need the app. It works great on wood floors with room rugs.
