• I had the same problem. You have to take the charger out. For some reason it doesn't work with the charger still plugged in.

• I have not experienced this problem, mine works fine. It sounds as if something is now wrong with the battery, which is this unit's weakest point. If new, I would suggest returning it. I have found out there are other competitive units available for less money which do not use an internal battery. If I had it to do again, I would not purchase this unit. However, as I said, mine is working fine (so far).
