No. We use it with the MacBook Air and Pro closed. We have 2 monitors plus a wireless keyboard and mouse, and external camera.

However, you must download and install a driver first. Drivers are available on j5create website under the "Support" tab > Downloads/Drivers. Make sure you have full admin rights to complete the installation process. Thank you.
