“Are the EQ settings stored in the EarPhones, or does the phone app amplify the audio signal? Reviews say these sound flat out of the box. I was planning to use these with my Peloton bike, so the EQ settings would need to be stored in the EarPhones.”

I can cofirm that the earbuds remember the EQ you set in the app. As long as you have the app on your phone, set your EQ as you like it, then disconnect from your phone and connect to the other device, it will remember the last EQ set. I tried this with a tablet that did not have the Jaybird app and my laptop. The earbuds had the same EQ I had with my smartphone with LOTS of bass.

The flatness being reported may be due to what they're listening to vs the earbuds themselves... But I do agree in that I had to change the factory preset to amplify the treble and bass to how I like them. I also say the preset is stored in the earbuds because the app doesn't open after bluetooth pairing and seem to be more "technologically loaded" than a standard pair of earbuds. Smart earbuds, if you will. Hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, the equalizer settings are on the Jaybird app or whatever sound app you have on your phone,(you can also use both together if you have both). The only commands from the actual earpieces are off/on, Skip, Pause, Volume up or down.
