THE JUNE 2022 FIRMWARE UPDATE FIXED THIS FOR ME. I have a JBL 9.1G connect to a Sony X9500G. facing same issue. withing 5 mins of TV turning off, soundbar wakes up. this was causing the read speakers not to charge and to discharge fast. I worked with JBL support for 6 months and escalated to the highest levels, and suddenly they released a firmware which fixed it for me.

Our JBL Bar 9.1 will go into standby mode if no audio source is detected for 30 minutes. If you're not using the unit, please turn it off. If CEC is enabled on your devices, the soundbar will turn off if the source device used is also turned off.
