• Keeping the rear speakers docked will not affect its battery life span. It has a protection where the charging stops when the batteries are full.

• I have had mine connected 90% of the time and really only separate them for movies. And they last as long now as they did when I bought this over a year ago. But I would assume over time they would lose some capacity with use or remaining plugged in.
