“JBL 9.1 hooked up through a Samsung smart TV via HDMI with NO optical. Works well watching TV & Blu rays, again connected through the TV. Tried to connect my Sony CX355 cd player via the optical cable direct to the JBL but can get nothing? Any ideas pls??”

The audio input from the TV connection, where the HDMI OUT connector is used, is prioritized over the optical connector, Bluetooth, or HDMI IN on our JBL Bar 9.1. When using the Sony CD player, we recommend that you turn off the TV so that the soundbar will take the optical connection as a current source.
