“Does this take the place of the TV speakers- in other words, will the TV speakers turn off while the soundbar is on? When the TV turns on, does the sound bar automatically turn on with it? Can the volume be controlled through the TV remote?”

Thanks for your question. Generally, when you connect a soundbar, like the JBL Cinema SB570, to your TV using an HDMI cable through the ARC/eARC ports, the TV will automatically recognize it as the default audio output device. If your TV also has CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) enabled, you can use a single remote (either the TV's or the soundbar's) to control both devices' power and volume.
