I suggest you should still turn the bluetooth connection off once you are in the water. Sometimes getting wet and water in your ear area is inevitable.

Hello, the JBL ENDURANCE DIVE are meant to be used in MP3 mode when underwater, since you plan to keep your head above the water at all times that shouldn't interfere with the Bluetooth connection, your phone should stay within a range of 30 meters.
